THE MASTIFF HOUSE was established in 2018 for the Molosser & Working Breeds & Their Owners.

We are a non-profit organization, exclusive to those who provide devoted training, work, love, & companionship to their K9 relationship, therefore maximizing each other's potential both individually and as a team.

We believe in the right of animals to exist without fear of abuse, exploitation or extermination.

Adopting

We believe in adopting a puppy or dog that previously exists and is currently in need, in lieu of purchasing a puppy that will be bred into existence, at any time that it makes sense. 

There are so many dogs created & purchased by man and then discarded for a simple misunderstanding of the dog's actions or breed traits, in which neither are the dogs fault. 

Please do your research on training and the breed you plan to commit to. 

Bonding & Training

We believe in creating a loving & trusting bond and incorporating your dog in as many aspects of your life as possible.

They, like us, are instinctively wired to be a part of a pack or group for survival and proper mental health. Proper training allows this to happen and helps you live life with your dog more effortlessly.

If you do not have the knowledge to train your own dog, we recommend getting help from a knowledgeable and ethical trainer.

You will love seeing what a trained dog is capable of and what they can bring to your life & home.

Breed Conservation

Conservation of dog breeds is an important aspect of preserving the genetic diversity of dogs. It took thousands of years to get the breeds we currently have today, each of them created for a specific job, need or personal preference.

We acknowledge the hard work and dedication of those who help keep these breeds in existence by always aiming for proper type, better health and life longevity through their research and selection.

These are the people who are truly passionate about the breed and do not let money, greed or convenience play a role in their decision making. 

WE DO NOT SUPPORT ANYTHING LESS THAN THIS. THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN ENOUGH HUMANE SOCIETY VISITS DOWN THE WEST COAST TO BE ABLE TO DENY THE HORRIFIC SITUATION MAN HAS CAUSED BY BREEDING FOR PROFIT & ALSO LACK OF TRAINING & COMMITMENT FROM THE ADOPTERS SIDE.  

 

ANCIENT HISTORY

Since the ancient "Old-World" or "Medieval Times" man has depended on dog throughout civilization.  Kings, Queens, Nobles & Knights owned dogs for several different purposes.

Hunting, slave capture, estate guardians, personal protection, and even companionship at time of war and home were expected, proving the K9's ability to be an intelligent, diverse animal when trained and bonded to its owner.

Mastiff type dogs have been revered as a symbol of royalty, class, & elegance, who's job description has typically been to track & hunt by day and protect royalty and their estates by night for centuries.

A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

After living almost my entire life with molosser & working breeds (Rottweilers, Great Danes, Pitbulls, German Shepherds & Filas) I realized the decades of knowledge and experience I have received regarding these breeds was not common knowledge for the general dog owner, nor for many molosser owners.
All of my dogs have been "inside" dogs, having full access to me and my home at all times. I have owned single dogs and built amazing connections with a deeper level of communication & understanding for their ways of life. I have also owned a "pack" of 4 dogs at a time, (while also adding temporary rescues to the pack from time to time), which allowed me further insight into the typical "K9 Rules" of operation, how they communicate among each other, and how each dog falls into their own rank within the pack, and at what times.
These intimate experiences have allowed me to learn about K9's in general, but also the differences between the Working & Molosser breeds vs. other types of dogs. These dogs belong in their own category and have specific needs that are different than other types of dogs. They are also extremely powerful, and can be misunderstood. This almost always results in a lesser quality of life for them and their household members, and in many instances have even resulted in deaths that could have been prevented.
My dogs, in their own ways and at different times, have improved my life with additional independence, security, and understanding of different types of communication and relationships. THE MASTIFF HOUSE was founded so that I could give back to the breeds & others who admire & depend on them like I do.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and/or experiences as well as providing quality products and/or referrals that have helped me along the way to successfully build my K9 relationships & provide ultimate care for these dogs.

Currently our non-profit is run by a select few volunteers and whatever free time & energy I have available after work & life demands, as well as caring for my own dogs.
However, there are many exciting plans in place to continue to grow & increase our mission's reach.
Your ideas, experiences, product or service referrals, volunteer time, & donations will all help these plans turn into a reality, helping and saving thousands more people, dogs & households along the way.
